Worldwide FACE Tx Program Launches to Help Orthodontists Achieve Excellent Functional and Cosmetic Results for Patients

New Roth Williams-Focused Initiative Spans Four Continents

ORANGE, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2009) - A team of leading orthodontists from around the world have partnered to launch a new global educational program to enhance the skills of orthodontists and enable them to achieve excellent clinical results for their patients.

Building on the principles established by the Roth Williams International Society of Orthodontists (RWISO), the new Roth Williams Functional and Cosmetic Excellence (FACE Tx) program provides one and two-year comprehensive courses of study in orthodontics and interdisciplinary dentistry. Launching in early 2010, the intensive curriculum will integrate cutting-edge orthodontic techniques with the latest technology to help orthodontists elevate the standard of patient care through high quality functional and aesthetic results.

"FACE Tx is about achieving excellence in patient treatment, while also providing distinctive value to the clinician," said Dr. Domingo Martin, a core member of the FACE Tx team who is championing the initiative in Spain. "We want to instruct doctors on how they can achieve the best functional occlusion in the most efficient manner for maximum stability. This allows the clinician to achieve consistent, high quality results for patients that last a lifetime. The FACE Tx philosophy is unique from other orthodontic treatment methods because it involves multiple dental specialties in treatment planning and diagnosis while emphasizing three basic principles. These include a focus on developing smile aesthetics based on genetic morphology; functional occlusion for facial balance, lip support, efficient chewing and healthy gum tissues; and proper joint function for lifelong stability.

FACE Tx courses will be held throughout the United States as well as in Spain, Italy and South America. The curriculum includes a series of five courses presented in lecture format with opportunities for technical and hands-on clinical experience that involve treatment planning, diagnosis and mechanics for efficient alignment of teeth to achieve the maximum health benefit for the patient.

Instructors include Dr. Domingo Martin in San Sebastian, Spain; Dr. Renato Cocconi in Parma, Italy; Dr. L. Douglas Knight in Louisville, Kentucky, USA; and Dr. Jorge Ayala in Santiago, Chile.
